On Thursday 11th February, Andrew Morgan, CEO of SFM Forest Products, gave a presentation at the Kingston Mens Shed, describing the company’s venture into Hydrowood. He gave a fascinating description of how the company is reclaiming specialist timber from the Hydro dams of Tasmania. This standing timber was submerged when the dams were flooded over 25 years ago. Initially the company is harvesting timber from the Pieman Lake, but there are plans to harvest from several other lakes in the future. The company has pioneered the process in this state. There was a big turnout for the event and Shedders from all over the state attended to enjoy the presentation followed by a delicious lunch provided by our lovely ladies from the Garden Group. We were also pleased to welcome the Premier Will Hodgman, Opposition Leader Bryan Green, Minister for Human Services and for Women, Jacquie Petrusma, and Deputy Mayor of Kingborough, Paula Wriedt.
As a bonus there was a small display by Specialised Joinery Supplies for us all to see while enjoying lunch. A good time was had by all!
